Larch: Larix; Lichen: Parmelia sulcate

The inspiration for this graphite and coloured pencil piece came from a fallen Larch branch. I was intrigued with the small yellow-coloured centres that had developed in the intricate lichen formations growing all along the branch.

The Chickadee seems content to sit on the snowy branch, looking out to the light source, possibly thinking of spring.
