Dahlia: Dahlia

This watercolour piece was created in a non-traditional composition style. While still with the plain white botanical background, I have painted the plant and blooms coming off three sides of the paper.

The Dahlia plant has very dense and showy blooms and grows in a wide range of species and colours. For added interest I have painted the blooms and buds all at various stages of development.

In the Fall the tubers can be stored over the winter months and replanted in the Spring, bringing this hardy and beautiful plant back to life.
