Apple Blossom

1152 Apple BlossomApple Blossom:  Malus pumila

This composition of an Apple Blossom stem was painted in water colour. It is always difficult for the artist to define white on a white back ground, but with the use of a light hand these delicate petals came to life with the use of pale pink and grey tones.  There are many different cultivars of apple trees, blossoms and fruit that have been painted by artists over history.

Fruit tree blossoms always herald the beginning of a long awaited Spring. Not only do their delicate blooms provide us with beauty, but fragrance, and ultimately the apple fruit.
