Peony: Paeonia Lactiflora
A much historically loved and spectacularly beautiful perennial plant, prized in the Imperial gardens of China, and Siberia and Tibet. In this coloured pencil composition, I show the tight, and hardy, buds developing into large, showy, and often top heavy stems of dense petals. Blooms range in colours from white, pink, red to deep crimson, having a rose-like resemblance. The Peony plant is easy to grow and tolerates our Canadian winter temperatures well, and often now found in floral arrangements.
