Rosehips

Rosehips:  Rosa, rosaceae

This composition of a stem from a rosa bush, was painted in water colour. Once the delicate and fragrant flower petals have finished blooming and drop, the clusters of fruit appear as hips. The sunlight on the brick-red globular hips gives them an almost wax-like image. The drying, curling and colourful Fall leaves show evidence of ingesting insects for further visual interest.
