Rosehips: Rosa, rosaceae

This composition of a stem from a rosa bush was completed in coloured pencil in 2012. This medium can create deeply rich colours and textures, highlighting the Fall stages of the hips and leaves. Once the delicate and fragrant petals have finished blooming and drop, the clusters of fruit appear as hips. The drying, curling and colourful leaves show evidence of ingesting insects for further visual appeal.
