Wild Ginger: Asarum canadense

This traditional botanical style composition of a Wild Ginger native plant was painted in watercolour. The unusual solitary flowers rise from a rhizome tip and are well-hidden below the leaves. The back of the blooms, as well as the stems, are covered in soft and downy hairs, creating more visual interest.

Asarum is the Latin and Greek name for Wild Ginger, and “of Canada” is the species name.
